I'm South St. Paul Rod & Gun Club Manager Don Deeb, and welcome to our August news update!
Summer Hours
The club is on summer hours and is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.
Remember to renew your membership for 2012. Stop down and renew at your convenience, and check out this month's events while you're here!
President's Shoot
Our annual President's Shoot took place June 12 - 17. For results, click here.
KFAN Radio Advertising
You may have noticed that the Club has been doing some advertising on KFAN Radio's (FM100.3) Thursday evening and Saturday morning Fan Outdoors Show, and on the Fan Outdoors Web Page. In addition, the regular host of the show, "The Captain" Billy Hildebrand, broadcast his show live at the Club the morning of the Federal Duck Stamp ceremony and served as the emcee of the event.
Shooting Discounts
Remember that you can buy shooting cards for our Claymate target counting system, either by the league round, or individually for practice shooting. The sporting clays counters have a "delay" option that allows you to practice alone. Insert the card, push the "delay" button, and push the button; after a 3 second delay, marked by 3 beeps, the target(s) is (are) launched. You can set the counter to throw single targets, true pairs, or following pairs of the same or both targets in either order. This is a great way to groove your shooting stroke; try it out, I think you'll like it!
In addition, take advantage of our volume discount program, as follow:
Buy $150 - $499 on a shooting card, and we will add $5 extra to your shooting card;
Buy $500 - $999, and we will add $20 extra to your shooting card;
Buy $1,000+, and we will add $60 extra to your shooting card.
Shooting Supplies
Did you know we carry a large inventory of shooting supplies and merchandise? Click here to view our Pro Shop merchandise. And, if you don't see what you need, call me at the Club and, if we can get it, I'll order it for you.
League News
Summer Leagues are drawing to a close! Leagues end on August 19th, and shootoffs will occur August 21 - 23. (Keep in mind that the Club is closed for league shooting on August 18th for our Summer Sizzler registered sporting clays shoot.)
For all leagues other than Classic Trap and Elite Skeet, all teams will be involved in shootoffs. All team members and individual league competitors can compete in the shootoffs if they've shot most, or all of, their league rounds, as detailed in the league rules. (For 2012 Summer League Rules, click here.)
In addition, there will be gun drawings at the Summer League Banquet, but in order to be eligible for the gun drawings you must shoot all of your league rounds. The Summer League Banquetwill be held on September 26th 12th, and will feature a meal, a general raffle, league winner awards, and the aforementioned gun drawings.
League Sponsors - send us your logo and/or a link to your website, and we will place it on our website for free as a thank you for sponsoring a league team at the Gun Club. Tournaments & Events
Our annual Summer Sizzler registered sporting clays shoot will be held August 18. Shooters of all levels are welcome, and, as always, there is a "Hunter" class for non-registered shooters.
Boy Scouts Fundraiser
The Boy Scouts are hosting a sporting clays fundraising shoot on Monday, August 27th. All are welcome to come and help this cause. Click here for details.
Scholarships
The 2012 Scholarship recipients have been announced! Did you know that since 2000 alone, the Club has donated over $91,000 to 52 area students to help with their post-secondary education? We should all be proud to be part of this! Click here to see the winners.
Artists Home Town Ceremony
The Club hosted Joe Hautmann's Federal Duck Stamp Ceremony on July 14th. There was a shooting event in the morning, followed by the presentation ceremony. It was a great event and we are proud to have hosted this prestigious award ceremony. For pictures of the event, click here.
Tree Fund
You may have noticed donation containers at the Club for our new Tree Fund. The fabulous work that's being done on our berm will result in a need for tree planting on the berm, and that will be costly. So a voluntary Tree Fund has been established to raise money for this cause. Please contribute early and often if you can!
Club Closed on Labor Day
Please note that the Club is closed on September 3, Labor Day.
Pictures & Email Addresses
Keep sending photos for the website; we will post them as we receive them! We also have an "archived pictures" link on the website, so as photos roll off the Photo Gallery you'll be able to find them in the Archives.
Also, we are sending out more and more information via email. If we don't have your email address, or if it changes, please let us know by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
